Ask
The brief was to bring research from Colombia, Argentina, South Africa, Canada and Kenya into a coherent publication about the say communities have in renewable energy projects. It needed to make detailed findings clear and engaging, while preserving the history and human context of each place.
Solution
We combined photographs, collage, illustrated portraits and handwritten annotations to create that research-notes aesthetic. JustRE’s blue and mustard palette connects the publication to the wider brand, while imagery drawn from each setting gives the cases their own character.
Strategy
We wanted to invite readers into the research and give them a sense of the places and communities it explores. The informal, gathered quality of research notes offered a visual direction that felt grounded and approachable. A clear editorial structure would support the detailed findings and connect the case studies.
Result
The case studies are now published on Forum for the Future’s website alongside the Authority Dial and an industry brief. Together, these resources help communities, developers and policymakers understand how community ownership and decision-making work in practice.
